Renowned Films promotes Robert Hunter, development director Chris Broughall departs

London- and LA-based Renowned Films, the production company behind unscripted titles including Making Manson and My Son Jeffrey: The Dahmer Family Tapes, today announced a strategic refocusing and staff promotion as it accelerates its US and doc-series ambitions.

Robert Hunter

Robert Hunter has been promoted to the newly created role of head of development for documentary & limited series from his roles as senior development exec having been with Renowned for seven years.

In this position, Hunter will split his time between LA and London, working closely with the founders and senior management to lead the company’s expanding focus on box-set series and access-led factual storytelling.

Hunter will report directly to co-founders Max Welch and Duane Jones. He will spearhead an expanded development pipeline of limited series, supported by a new team of senior development executives currently being recruited.

These hires, to be announced shortly, will report into Hunter, the founders, and Kate Maddigan, director of television, who takes on an expanded creative-strategy remit after overseeing Renowned’s growing slate of streamer series as the companies dedicated executive producer.

As part of the changes, director development Chris Broughall will leave Renowned in November to pursue new ventures. Broughall joined the company after a tenure at Gobstopper, the former entertainment and fact-ent producer.
“We thank Chris for all his work and impact with Renowned and wish him the best success” the founders said in a joint statement.
