Renowned Films hires Gobstopper exec

London- and LA-based prodco Renowned Films has appointed former Gobstopper Television executive Chris Broughall as its head of development.

Based at the Critical Content-backed firm’s London office, Broughall will report to Renowned’s co-founder, Tim Withers.

He will be responsible for overseeing Renowned’s development strategy, with a focus on expanding the company’s push into formatted factual entertainment.

As head of development at UK indie Gobstopper, Broughall pitched fact ent and entertainment formats such as Channel 4’s The Surgery, BBC3’s Surgery on Show and a shock doc for 5Star, and served as series edit producer on MTV series Just Tattoo of Us.

He also spent seven years working in development at Simon Cowell’s Syco Entertainment, on international formats such as La Banda (Univision), Beat the Brain (BBC2) and Keep it in the Family (ITV), as well as The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent.

Renowned Films’ slate features Peng Life (Channel 4), The Modern Game (Otro), Generation Grime (Sky), Backyard Envy (Bravo) and Copwatch America (BET).
