Red Arrow Studios Int’l adds Britney Spears conservatorship doc to slate

Controlling Britney Spears was produced by The New York Times and Left/Right

Red Arrow Studios International has picked up the international distribution rights to Controlling Britney Spears, a feature-length documentary containing new allegations about the pop icon’s daily life inside a conservatorship.

The documentary is a follow-up to Framing Britney Spears and was produced in partnership by The New York Times and Left/Right, a Red Arrow Studios company. The film is directed by Samantha Stark and Liz Day is supervising producer and reporter.

In a confidential report obtained by the Times, Spears told a court investigator in 2016 that her conservatorship had become “an oppressive and controlling tool against her.” But how the conservatorship has controlled her life has never been revealed. Now an investigation by the newspaper has unveiled an intense surveillance apparatus that monitored every move she made.

Controlling Britney Spears premiered on FX and Hulu in the US on Friday, September 24.
