Raw promotes for US docs

Raw TV, the UK factual indie recently acquired by All3Media, has promoted one of its executive producers to head its US documentaries operation.

Louise Norman

Louise Norman has been upped to head of US documentaries and senior VP of special projects as the company targets growth in hard factual content.

Grierson- and Emmy-winning executive producer Norman has overseen a slate of documentaries and series since joining Raw in 2010.

He credits include Liquid Bomb Plot and Inside the Hunt for the Boston Bombers for Channel 4; Miracle Landing on the Hudson for National Geographic; and CNN’s highest-rating original series ever, Race for the White House.

Forthcoming projects include the company’s next blue-chip CNN series Kennedys: An American Dynasty (w/t), a six-part show that takes viewers to the heart of America’s First Family.

Norman’s elevation comes as part of Raw’s renewed push into high-end documentary projects, which has also seen senior executive producer and director Mark Lewis working with exec VP of US television Adam Hawkins to secure documentary commission David Koresh & The Siege of Waco (w/t) as part of A&E Network’s returning Biography franchise.

Norman and Lewis report to company founder Dimitri Doganis and CEO Joely Fether.

The appointment follows May’s news that Discovery-owned Raw and Betty would both become part of the All3Media stable of prodcos. All3Media itself is owned 50/50 by Discovery and Liberty Global.

Late last year, Raw’s head of UK factual Richard Bond left to become creative director at Endemol Shine-owned Dragonfly.
