Former Raw Cut and Firecrest Films executive Mark Roberts has been appointed to the newly created role of creative director at London-based prodco True Vision (The Sixth Commandment).

His remit at the indie includes helping to develop a slate of documentaries and returning factual series.

True Vision’s founder and CEO Brian Woods will continue to focus on blue-chip single doc titles and factual dramas. The news was first reported by Broadcast.

Roberts previously worked with True Vision when he was a commissioner at Channel 4, collaborating on the docs China’s Stolen Children and Undercover in Tibet.

He was group creative director at Raw Cut, where he was responsible for the Secrets and Scandals series. Roberts has also held senior creative roles at Glasgow-based Firecrest Films, Mentorn Media and Dragonfly.

The appointment is likely to be the first of several strategic hires as True Vision expands its content portfolio. The prodco primarily makes factual titles but recently coproduced BBC crime drama series The Sixth Commandment with Wild Mercury. It was based on True Vision’s own doc, Catching a Killer: A Diary from the Grave.

Woods said: “We’re incredibly lucky to have persuaded Mark to come on board, having first started to work with him almost 20 years ago. He has a fantastic track record for securing returning factual series and is absolutely committed to the ideals that True Vision has always stood for.”

Jezza Neumann, director and production executive, said: “Mark is an excellent addition to the True Vision team. His arrival signals the start of an exciting period for the company as we look to grow and expand into new markets.”
