Rainmaker braced for Winter crime series

London-based distributor Rainmaker Content has added a six-part crime series based on Caroline Mitchell novel Truth & Lies to its slate.

Caroline Mitchell

Amy Winter (6×60′) is an adaptation of one of the titles from detective-turned-bestselling-author Mitchell’s book series about the character of the same name. Rainmaker has secured international distribution rights to the drama.

Susan Everett (Hinterland, Silent Witness) is attached as head writer and executive producer.

The contemporary crime series is being creatively developed and exec produced by Jeff Norton (Susan Hill’s Ghost Story) through the Dominion of Drama indie he launched in September last year, following the collapse of Kew Media, which owned his previous shingle Awesome.

Zoë Rocha (Borderline) is also exec producing through her RubyRock Pictures firm.

Amy Winter focuses on the life and cases of a young, British female detective inspector who discovers that her biological parents were notorious serial killers. So far, three novels in the franchise have been published, with an additional three under contract.

Rainmaker’s Greg Phillips said: “We are thrilled to come in on the ground floor to such an incredible piece of IP. Susan Everett’s vision for the series is challenging, complex and utterly compelling. We believe Amy Winter has all the ingredients to become the next addictive crime character with strong appeal to global audiences.”

Executive producing with Norton, Rocha and Everett is Sara Curran, whose company Tricycle Media is a long-term partner of Norton. Rainmaker’s Greg Phillips, Graham Begg and Vicky Ryan also exec produce.
