Rai, Nat Geo, ARD among broadcasters to pick up ORF-Enterprise catalogue

Rebellion in the Brothel – Trafficking in Women around 1900 from ORF

Austrian distributor ORF-Enterprise has secured multiple sales deals for scripted ORF originals and nature documentaries after Mipcom last week.

Buyers taking titles made by ORF’s natural history unit Universum include Italy’s Rai, which has snapped up European Downfall – The Tragedy of Emperor Franz Joseph. The Czech Republic’s Cesla Televisa also acquired European Downfall… and Rebellion in the Brothel – Trafficking in Women around 1900.

National Geographic Channels International has pre-bought Red Sea: Evolution’s Magic Garden and snapped up Wild Transylvania – Dracula’s Hidden Kingdom; RTS in Switzerland bought The Raven’s Tale – Mystic Czechia and The Real Jungle Book; Turkey’s TRT has taken a package of 10 shows, as has Czech broadcaster FTV Prima; while Viasat in the UK has licensed The Real Jungle Book, Slovenia – Where Nature Comes First, and Wild Boar – The Comeback.

ORF Originals have also found multiple new homes, with Germany’s ARD One taking Walking on Sunshine (S3&S4); FTV Prima opting for Soko Kitzbühel (S4-11); France’s Canal+ bought Soko Linz S3, and AXN in Japan has taken the first series of the same show.

Airline deals include Xiamen Airlines (China), Eva Airways (Taiwan), and Korean Airlines all buying classical music show Christmas in Vienna 2023 for their in-flight entertainment services; while Thai Airways has also secured the rights to TV movie Forever Yours.
