Rai commissions Italian adaptation of Belgian gameshow format 99 to Beat

Italian broadcaster Rai has greenlit Belgian gameshow format 99 to Beat

Italian broadcaster Rai has greenlit a local version of the popular Belgian gameshow format 99 to Beat. The Italian adaptation, titled 99 da Battere, will debut on Rai2 in January 2025 as a six-episode series produced by Endemol Shine Italy.

Originally created by Belgian networks VRT and De Chinezen, 99 to Beat has travelled to 10 international markets since its 2018 premiere on VRT. The show’s premise sees contestants trying to avoid finishing last in a series of 99 games to stay in the competition.

The format has already been adapted in Germany (Sat.1), the Netherlands (SBS), Norway (Warner Bros Discovery), Sweden (Kanal 5) and Poland (TTV). Upcoming versions are also set to launch in the UK (ITV1) and France (M6) in 2025.

Simone de Pruyssenaere, director of sales and acquisitions at the format’s Belgian distributor Primitives, said: “We are thrilled to bring 99 to Beat to the Italian audience with Endemol Shine Italy. This collaboration continues the format’s incredible international journey and success.”
