Quibi to have Sex Next Door

Forthcoming shortform video platform Quibi has greenlit a documentary series about sex workers and a daily stand-up comedy series as it loads up on originals ahead of its launch in the US next month.

Sex Next Door is described as an intimate, introspective look at the personal and professional lives of young people working in the sex industry.

Focusing on the lives of four sex workers in Seattle, it explores the stigma and pressures that sex workers face by examining their relationships with family, clients, partners and themselves.

It is directed by Anthony B Sacco, who executive produces with Josh Shader for Wall Fly. Wall Fly is represented by Brian Speiser at APA and Abrams Garfinkel Margolis Bergson.

Hot Off the Mic, meanwhile, will be released five days a week after being taped by Levity Live at comedy clubs across the country, beginning with the legendary Improv in Hollywood.

It will be executive produced by Stu Schreiberg, John Bravakis, Johnny Milord and Dicky Eagan.

The two shows join a stream of new originals announced recently by Quibi, such as How We Met, Let’s Go Atsuko, Q Talks, Prodigy (working title) and Gone Mental with Lior, as it gears up for its launch in the US on April 6.

The mobile-only service will be priced at US$4.99 per month for the ad-supported version and US$7.99 per month for the ad-free edition. It will host content designed to be viewed on the go, with episodes less than 10 minutes long.
