Pubcasters NHK, EBS and PTS+ take climate, funeral, space docs from Espresso

Finite: The Climate of Change was picked up by NHK in Japan

Public broadcasters in Japan, Korea and Taiwan have acquired documentaries from UK-based distributor Espresso Media International ahead of the Asia TV Forum & Market (ATF) this week.

NHK in Japan has licensed Finite: The Climate of Change (1×52′), which follows an unlikely alliance between German activists fighting to save an ancient forest and a rural English community protecting their homes from a new opencast coal mine.

EBS in Korea, meanwhile, has taken social issues documentary The Funeral Director (1×52′), which focuses on a pioneering funeral director, unflinchingly drawing back the veil on an industry that is rarely spoken of. Originally commissioned for RTÉ in Ireland, the doc is also available on Netflix around Europe.

PTS+, the streaming platform from Taiwan’s pubcaster, has acquired space documentary Zero Gravity (1×74′), while PTS has also re-licensed My Beautiful Stutter (1×52′), executive produced by Paul Rudd, and End of the Line (1×52′).
