As part of its plan to focus on entertainment and expand its digital business, ProSiebenSat.1’s streaming platform Joyn will now become the centre of its commissioning strategy. It aims to make the service a leading entertainment and lifestyle brand across the DACH region.

It is hoping to monetise this through more smart advanced TV advertising products, thus increasing the digital share of its advertising revenues.

The group will also regularly review merger and acquisition opportunities to grow the entertainment segment.

ProSiebenSat.1 has been investing in companies for more than 10 years, and it will continue along this path in the future, relying increasingly on the media-for-equity/revenue model. At the same time, ProSiebenSat.1 is concentrating on further developing the group’s majority interests.

Bert Habets, CEO of ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE, said: “At ProSiebenSat.1, we have everything it takes to reach millions of people every day. We now want to translate that even better into growth and, above all, become even more attractive digitally.

“In the future, our investment focus will also be on the entertainment business. I am convinced that in this way we will strengthen our leading position in the German-speaking entertainment market and achieve our medium-term revenue growth target of 4-5% per year on average.”

At the same time, initiatives such as the group having its own news editorial team, more local programming content and closer cooperation with creators, will help it increase reach independently of platforms.
