ProSieben crowns Love King in Germany

German broadcaster ProSieben has licensed ITV Studios dating format Love is King in which singles are looking for a partner like they once did at the beginning of the 19th century.

The format is based around first dates at extravagant balls and limited communication options as millennials try to find love without their digital devices.

Over three weeks 16 millennials live together in a castle and vie for the favour of the king. Whoever can manage to find a steady dance partner for the ball nights, has a chance of winning the title and the cash prize.

Hannes Hiller, senior VP of development and content strategy for entertainment at ProSieben, said: “Who still knows how dating works without a smartphone these days? In the dating show Love is King, time will turn back for our singles. Digital natives go on a romantic journey back in time to the 19th century to find their partner.”

Love is King is developed by ITV Studios Germany, produced exclusively for ProSieben and distributed internationally by ITV Studios.
