Propagate scripted TV chief Rodney Ferrell elevated to president of worldwide content

LA-based studio and distributor Propagate has elevated Rodney Ferrell to president of worldwide scripted content.

Rodney Ferrell

Ferrell will oversee global production and development of all scripted programming, reporting to Propagate chairman and co-CEO Ben Silverman and co-CEO Howard T Owens.

He will also continue to play a role in running Propagate Fuego, the company’s recently announced Spanish-language content division.

Since joining Propagate in 2019 as executive VP of scripted television, Ferrell has developed several projects, including the 10-episode drama Shaka: King of the Zulu Nation for Showtime, which goes into production later this year, a reimagining of Zorro for The CW and Our Kind of People for Fox.

Ferrell, who spent 14 years at Fox 2000 before moving to Propagate, also developed and oversees production on Spanish-language series Rebelde, which premiered on Netflix in January and has been renewed for a second season. Propagate said Ferrell is overseeing development on several unannounced projects for Netflix, Amazon Prime, Apple, HBO Max, CBS and Univision.

“Since joining Propagate, Rodney has successfully driven development and production on a diverse slate of scripted series,” said Silverman and Owens in a statement.

“He has a clear vision and strategy for the continued growth of our scripted business and we are thrilled to have him at the helm.”
