Propagate fires up new content division, expands Spanish-language slate

US studio Propagate Content is launching a Spanish-language content division focused on scripted and unscripted programming.

Ben Silverman

Propagate Fuego will be led by Propagate chairman and co-CEO Ben Silverman and president, global productions, Isabel San Vargas who was recently promoted to equity partner in the company.

Catalina Ramirez, VP of Propagate International, Rodney Ferrell, executive VP of scripted content, and Cyrus Farrokh, president of Propagate International, will also be involved in the division.

The launch of the new label comes as Propagate looks to expand its slate of Spanish-language projects and comes on the heels of the premiere of its Mexican drama series Rebelde on Netflix earlier this month. Netflix also recently announced it had opened casting for Propagate’s music competition series La Firma.

Propagate’s other Spanish-language credits include the previously announced horror-comedy Pinches Momias, which will premiere on Univision’s upcoming streaming service.

“As a Mexican-American partner in Propagate, I’m so pleased we are creating a division dedicated to Spanish-language content,” said San Vargas.

“The Spanish-language market is vibrant and diverse and appeals to global audiences. We are so excited to launch Propagate Fuego to bring more A+ original content to audiences around the world.”

Silverman was an executive producer on the English-language adaptions of Yo soy Betty, la fea, which was remade as Ugly Betty on ABC, and Juana la Virgen, which was adapted by The CW as Jane the Virgin, among others.
