Prime Video renews French-Canadian version of LOL for two more seasons

The LOL: Qui Rira Le Dernier? format has been adapted in numerous countries for Prime Video

Amazon Prime Video has renewed its French-Canadian unscripted comedy LOL: Qui Rira Le Dernier? for two more seasons.

Stand-up comic, actor, director and producer Patrick Huard (Bon Cop Bad Cop, Starbuck) will return as host for both new seasons.

The LOL format, which originated in Japan, has proven popular for Prime Video, with the streaming platform making local versions in markets including Australia, English Canada, Germany, France, Brazil, India and Spain.

The format sees actors and stand-up comics competing to make each other laugh first. Seasons two and three of the Quebecois version, produced by Montreal-based Attraction, will be filmed in Montreal.

Elsewhere, Amazon has renewed its big-budget US drama series Citadel, from Avengers directors Joe and Anthony Russo, for a second season, according to a report from The Hollywood Reporter.

The renewal comes ahead of the season one debut, which is scheduled for April 28. The sci-fi drama stars Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden.
