Prime Video greenlights docuseries on 2024 Esports World Cup from RJ Cutler’s This Machine

Esports World Cup: Level Up follows key competitors in last year’s tournament

Prime Video has ordered a five-part docuseries going behind the scenes of the first-ever Esports World Cup from director RJ Cutler.

Esports World Cup: Level Up, is produced by Cutler’s Sony-backed banner This Machine and follows the 2024 competition held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where more than US$60m in prize money was up for grabs in a competition to crown the world’s best e-sports team.

High-profile gamers featured in the docuseries include South Korea’s Faker (part of the T1 team), 19-year-old Filipino prodigy Sanford (Team Liquid), Alaska’s Drazah (Atlanta FaZe) and Soka (Team Falcons) from Oakland, California. Prime Video will debut the series globally on June 6.

Cutler and his production company, founded in 2020, are behind projects including Billie Eilish: The World’s a Little Blurry, Elton John: Never Too Late, Karol G: Tomorrow Was Beautiful and Lee Soo Man: King Of K-Pop.

Working alongside Cutler on the new docuseries are showrunner John Dorsey and executive producers Jane Cha Cutler, Trevor Smith, Elise Pearlstein and Mark Blatty.
