Prima TV, AMC, SBS pick up raft of Scorpion documentaries, first scripted show

Documentary In Your Face explores the science behind facial recognition

Prima TV in the Czech Republic, AMC in Spain and SBS Australia have picked up a string of titles from UK-based distributor Scorpion TV.

Prima has acquired a 32-hour package comprising 22 single documentaries and series including Scorpion’s Search for… ‘art mystery’ strand with titles like The Search for the Last Supper and The Search for the Mona Lisa. RSI Radiotelevisione Svizzera in Switzerland has also licensed some of these shows.

AMC in Spain acquired Ocean Secrets (1×50′), which follows underwater cinematographer Mauricio Handler’s exploration of the creatures that live in the world’s oceans. The 4K HD documentary has also gone to SVT Sweden.

Meanwhile, SF8 (8×52′), the first scripted series on Scorpion’s books, has been bought by SBS Australia. The anthology show is a Korean sci-fi drama compared to acclaimed UK drama Black Mirror.

In related news, Scorpion has secured distribution rights to three high-end documentary titles: CBC Canada’s In Your Face (1x 51′); The Musical Animal (1×47′); and You, Myself and Art (8×30′), the latest project from award-winning French filmmaker, actor and writer Thomas Deshays.
