Pluto TV takes Narcos to US AVoD

Pluto TV will offer Spanish-subtitled versions of Narcos

ViacomCBS-owned AVoD platform Pluto TV will stream the entirety of Netflix original Narcos for free in the US following a landmark deal with Gaumont.

Subtitled in both English and Spanish, the series premieres on October 20 on Pluto TV’s crime drama and Narco Novelas channels in the US.

PlutoTV has taken seasons one to five of the show from European producer and distributor Gaumont

Narcos will be streamed across four different Pluto TV owned-and-operated linear channels, with multiple air times and different languages to appeal to and accommodate a variety of viewing audiences and preferences.

This includes its own branded single-series, marathon-style channels Narcos and Narcos en Español.

Spanish-language versions of Narcos will stream with English subtitles and vice versa, catering to multi-lingual audiences.

Pluto TV will debut a new season each month through February 2021, with additional details to follow.

Seasons one to three of Narcos look at the men who would stop at nothing to take down the notorious cocaine trafficker, Pablo Escobar.

Seasons four to five, meanwhile, explore the origin of the modern war on drugs, beginning at the time when Mexican traffickers were a loose and disorganised confederation of small-time independent dealers.

“As the adoption of ad-supported streaming continues to accelerate, we are excited to build on that momentum and align with esteemed creators and producers in search of new ways to introduce audiences to their coveted collection of award-winning content,” said Amy Kuessner, senior VP content strategy and global partnerships at Pluto TV.

The deal comes as ViacomCBS looks to grow the international reach of Pluto TV, which started out in the US in 2014 and was acquired by the US media giant in early 2019.
