Pluto TV bolsters offering in UK, Canada with NBCUniversal content deal

Paramount Global-owned AVoD service Pluto TV is expanding its content line-up in the UK and Canada through a new pact with NBCUniversal (NBCU) Global TV Distribution.

In Canada, all seasons of half-hour comedy Will & Grace will join the More Pluto TV Comedy channel, in addition to Becker, Wings and Dear John.

In the UK, police dramedy Psych, which ran for eight seasons on USA Network from 2006 to 2014, will join the new Pluto TV Comedy Drama channel. Action-drama Scorpion and comedies The Millers and The Odd Couple are also being added to the channel.

Pluto TV in both the UK and Canada will also launch two new channels: Pluto TV 80s Action and Pluto TV Sci-Fi.

The former will carry classic series from within the NBCU library, including The A-Team, Knight Rider and Miami Vice, with the latter carrying intergalactic shows including Quantum Leap, Sliders and Battlestar Galactica.

Olivier Jollet, Pluto TV’s executive VP and international general manager, said partnerships like the one with NBCU help to “strengthen” the FAST business overall, echoing his own words from a Mipcom panel last week when he called for more collaboration and consolidation between FAST and AVoD players.
