Plimsoll Productions creates digital division led by development exec Ged Mansfield

Mansfied worked on projects including Netflix’s Animal

ITV Studios-backed Plimsoll Productions is opening a digital division, with long-serving development executive Ged Mansfield set to lead it.

Plimsoll Digital is focused on developing digital formats and exploring the use of emerging technologies, including ways to harness generative artificial intelligence to enhance creativity.

Mansfield, whose new title is creative director of development and digital, will report to Alan Eyres, head of Plimsoll USA.

His role will also include finding new ways to use Plimsoll’s archive of unseen footage from across natural history, adventure, documentary and factual entertainment, working in tandem with ITV Studios’ digital label Zoo 55. Plimsoll’s FAST and YouTube channels are already managed by Zoo 55.

Prior to his promotion, Mansfied was the creative director of development at Plimsoll. Since 2015, he has worked on many of its key projects, including A Real Bug’s Life (Disney+/National Geographic), Tiny World (Apple TV+) and Animal (Netflix), in addition to upcoming projects Shark! Celebrity Infested Waters (ITV) and Surviving Pompeii with Tom Hiddleston (Disney+/Nat Geo).

“The future of storytelling demands original ideas and thoughtful innovation. We want to create room for our best-in-class creatives to experiment and push the boundaries of what we consider possible in visual storytelling,” said Mansfield.

Eyres added: “Ged’s unique ability to combine vision, production expertise and compelling narratives makes him the ideal leader to craft narratives that captivate audiences across platforms.”
