Planeta Junior, a strategic partner of the Munich-based company, will coproduce and distribute The Beatrix Girls (52×11′), which M4E has been developing alongside Sherry Gunther Shugerman and her company Popmedia Brands.

The series will follow a group of girls who are “musicians and role models for a new generation of empowered young girls, with great clothes, fabulous hair and original pop music,” the producers said.

The show is based on the range of collectible pop star dolls that already have their own YouTube channel featuring videos originally developed by Popmedia Brands.

Barcelona-based Planeta Junior’s involvement in the show comes after Belgian children’s firm Studio 100 announced its intention to acquire a 68% stake in M4E for an undisclosed fee.
