Planeta Junior builds Fourth Wall pact

Superpigs puts a modern twist on classic fairytales

European children’s producer and distributor Planeta Junior and UK-based Fourth Wall Animation are working together on two series for children.

The companies have agreed to produce Superpigs (26×22′) and Milo (52×11′), with Channel 5’s Milkshake! in the UK already on board the latter.

Milo is due to launch this autumn with help from the government-funded Young Audiences Content Fund, administered through the British Film Institute.

Milo explores the world of jobs and vocations

The preschool series follows an adventurous cat who loves to use roleplay to explore the  world of jobs and vocations.

Superpigs, meanwhile, is aimed at five- to nine-year-olds and puts a modern twist on classic fairytales as the Three Little Pigs and Little Red Riding Hood, featuring comedy, mystery, action and drama.

The two series join other Planeta Junior productions such as Power Players, Gormiti, That’s Joey, Squish, Pio Rocks! and Tilly.

“Fourth Wall is one of the rare companies that excels at transmedia storytelling and is capable of creating lovable characters that are intended to work beautifully both in books and in animation series,” said Diego Ibáñez, international commercial director and Planeta Junior.

“As well as an excellent distribution and licensing pedigree, Planeta is also underpinned by impressive publishing roots, so has a similar group business model, making it the perfect partner for Fourth Wall,” added Joe Moroney, CEO of Fourth Wall.
