The North Road Company, the US content studio founded by Peter Chernin, has acquired a minority stake in former NFL star Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions.

North Road’s investment comes with a multi-year agreement between the two firms to collaborate on the development, production and sale of unscripted and scripted content.

The Chernin Group investment firm, co-founded by Chernin, will become Omaha Productions’ strategic partner to expand into media-adjacent consumer businesses.

The first project to see fruition from the new partnership is documentary series The King of Collectibles, which premiered on Netflix last month. It follows memorabilia dealer Ken Goldin and his team at Goldin Auctions as they buy and sell sports and pop culture items.

North Road’s factual studio Words + Pictures and Omaha Productions are currently developing a documentary project with Amazon’s Prime Video. It will profile Eric Reed, the trainer of racehorse Rich Strike, which won the 2022 Kentucky Derby.

“This partnership will support Omaha’s growth into new business categories,” said Chernin. “Peyton is committed to excellence and we look forward to starting this new chapter together.”

Omaha Productions was founded in 2020 following Manning’s retirement from pro football. The label focuses on sports-skewing unscripted shows such as History’s Greatest of All Time for A+E Networks and Quarterback for Netflix.

Manning said: “Peter Chernin has demonstrated throughout his career that he shares our passion for telling stories that unify and uplift.”
