Veteran exec Distad was most recently the CEO of Venu Sports, the planned sports streamer between Disney, Warner Bros Discovery (WBD) and Fox whose launch was officially scrapped last month.
In the new role, he will have oversight of all aspect of the platform, reporting to Tubi Media Group CEO Paul Cheesbrough.
Prior to Venu Sports, Distad spent a decade at Apple, where he oversaw business, operations and global distribution for video, sports and Apple TV+. Before that he was at Hulu for six years serving as senior VP of marketing and distribution.
Fox Corp CEO Lachlan Murdoch revealed the company’s plans to launch the D2C service earlier this month.
Specific details on the platform remain few, but Murdoch said it would include sports and news programming and would launch before the end of the year.
“Pete is a proven leader with deep experience in consumer products, and we’re thrilled to have him join the team to lead this new platform,” said Cheesbrough.
“His track record of innovation, execution, and building world-class streaming products speaks for itself, and we’re confident that under his leadership, we will deliver a best-in-class service that showcases Fox’s premium content and brands.”
Distad added: “I’m excited to bring Fox’s leading sports, news, and entertainment content to audiences outside the traditional pay TV bundle for the first time via an all-new streaming platform.
“Working closely with our content, distribution, and platform partners, we’re going to build and grow a differentiated viewing experience for consumers to access their favorite Fox programming.”
