Penguin picks BBCS’s Brown for rights

UK publisher Penguin Random House UK has appointed former BBC Studios executive Jenna Brown to the newly created role of head of media rights.

Jenna Brown

Brown will work on finding the best ways to develop Penguin Random House’s properties into media productions, including TV series.

At BBCS, the BBC’s commercial arm, Brown was strategy and business development manager, which involved developing scripted projects into TV propositions.

She will now report to Chantal Noel, Penguin Random House’s group rights director, who said: “At a time when the demand for creative content has never been higher, one of our strategic priorities has been to look at how we can deliver more licensing opportunities for our books, specifically in the media and entertainment space.

“With Jenna’s appointment, we will be able to represent our authors via a proven media professional who is also uniquely placed to work in a joined-up way with our publishing teams in order to maximise opportunities across our adult and children’s catalogue.”
