Peking Express’s Eccholine sets up shop in Malta to offer int’l production services

Belgium-based production company Eccholine is setting up in Malta to take advantage of its cash rebate scheme for reality and entertainment programming.

Eccholine specialises in delivering production services that allow formats to be produced internationally in a cost-efficient manner. Its credits include Ninja Warrior, Desafio, The Box and adventure race reality format Peking Express, which it also distributes.

Several criteria need to be met in order to qualify for support from the Maltese government and Eccholine Malta has been set up to facilitate this as a full-service, local production partner to international TV productions.

Axel Boer, who will serve as MD of Eccholine Malta, said: “We decided to invest in Malta and set up a local company because we believe Malta is ideally placed to accommodate international TV productions.

“The Maltese authorities have created a financially very interesting framework to incentivise production on the island. Not only is it a system with up to 40% refund on eligible costs, but also, quite uniquely, this scheme can be applied to reality and entertainment programming.”
