Peacock to premiere Universal movies

The latest Minions film will be available on Peacock

NBCUniversal-owned US streamer Peacock has agreed a multi-year licensing deal that will allow it to premiere Universal movies no later than four months after their theatrical debut.

Universal Pictures will also develop and produce exclusive original films for the streaming service via the agreement.

The deal begins in 2022 and includes films from Universal, Focus Features, Illumination and DreamWorks Animation studios.

The traditional 18-month pay-one window will be broken into three segments, with titles available for the first and last four-month segments exclusively on Peacock.

The 2022 theatrical release slate from Universal Pictures includes the newest instalment in the blockbuster Jurassic World franchise, Jurassic World: Dominion; a new original film from Oscar winner Jordan Peele (Get Out); new DreamWorks Animation movies The Bad Guys and Puss in Boots: The Last Wish; and the next instalment of Minions: The Rise of Gru from Illumination.
