Peacock takes off with WBTV’s Mrs Davis

NBCUniversal-owned US streamer Peacock has given a straight-to-series order to a new drama from Tara Hernandez and Damon Lindelof, produced by Warner Bros Television (WBTV).

Plot details are currently being kept under wraps, but the 10-episode series is described a “wonderfully weird” exploration of faith versus technology.

The streamer said it was a “highly competitive situation” to secure the series, which will be executive produced by Hernandez, who will serve as showrunner and co-write alongside Lindelof, who will also exec produce.

Both Hernandez, a writer and co-executive producer on The Big Bang Theory, and Lindelof (Lost, The Leftovers, Watchmen) are under overall deals with WBTV.

Channing Dungey, chairman of WBTV Group, said: “The brilliant minds of Tara Hernandez and Damon Lindelof have concocted one of the most innovative, undeniable concepts imaginable.”

Susan Rovner, chairman of entertainment content at NBCUniversal television and streaming, added: “Damon’s work is synonymous with content and storytelling that doesn’t just break through the clutter, but also storms on to the scene and demands that you watch or risk being left out.

“Tara’s experience on The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon brings Mrs Davis a sense of humour and unexpected storytelling I feel confident will engage viewers and fans for seasons to come.”
