PBS ups Simensky to head kids’ content

US pubcaster PBS has promoted Linda Simensky to the newly created role of head of content at PBS Kids.

Linda Simensky

Simensky joined PBS in 2003 and in her expanded role will lead the development of a multiplatform video content strategy.

She will be responsible for developing experimental approaches for emerging platforms and creating a slate of content for the next generation of children.

Simensky will also continue to oversee PBS Kids’ programming for its main channels.

She will still report to Lesli Rotenberg, chief programming executive and general manager for children’s media and education at PBS. Rotenberg credited Simensky’s work with bringing PBS to the forefront of the children’s media space.

“Linda is a world-class industry leader who has developed PBS Kids content that kids love and parents trust,” said Rotenberg.

Simensky started her career at Nickelodeon, where she helped build the animation department and launched the popular series Rugrats, Doug and The Ren & Stimpy Show.

Prior to joining CBS, Simensky worked as senior VP of original animation at Cartoon Network.
