PBS shops for more Mr Selfridge

US public broadcaster PBS has acquired the second season of UK period drama Mr Selfridge.

The 10×60’ season, based on the life of the flamboyant American businessman who set up the famous London department store, will air on PBS’s Masterpiece strand in 2014.

The show, a coproduction between ITV Studios and Masterpiece, is based on Lindy Woodhead’s novel Shopping, Seduction and Mr Selfridge and is distributed by ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVSGE).

The second season will pick up in 1914, with the store celebrating its fifth birthday but with the First World War about to begin.

A first season has already been sold into nearly 100 countries, including Canada (Vision TV); New Zealand (TVNZ); and territories in Asia and Latin America (Sundance Channel Global).
