Passion digs up 1000 Years of History

Passion Distribution has picked up international rights to UK broadcaster Channel 5’s ambitious documentary series 1000 Years of History as part of a slate of over 100 hours of new factual programming.

Channel 5’s 1000 Years of History looks at countries including America

1000 Years of History (6×120’) explores the defining stories of six nations: China, Russia, America, Australia, Scotland and Ireland. It is being coproduced by UK indies Middlechild Productions, Lambent Productions and Raise the Roof Productions.

The three indies, which will each create two episodes, have been commissioned as equal partners and will combine efforts and share materials including archive content and contributors while creating individual narratives for their respective specials.

Passion is also onboard two documentary series from Wildbear Entertainment. Beyond Our Earth (6×60’) is an exploration of our journey to conquer space while Cold War: The Tech Race (4×60’) looks at the race for scientific supremacy between the superpowers.

Also on the Passion slate is Danube: Against The Flow (8×60’), produced by Spot Productions for AMC Networks Central and Northern Europe, and another Middlechild history production for C5, The Nazis of Nuremberg (1×90’).

More C5 content comes in the form of Gypsy Eviction: The Battle For Dale Farm (1×60’) from Firecracker Films and Kate Humble: My Little Farm (4×60’) from Raise The Roof and Motion Content Group.

For buyers seeking Covid-related content, Passion has also picked up two Channel 4 series: How To Avoid a Second Wave (1×60’), produced by Parable and hosted by Dr Xand van Tulleken and Dr Guddi Singh, and South Korea: The Country That Beat The Virus (1×60’), from Quicksilver Media.

Passion, part of international production group Tinopolis, will be showcasing its new slate though its online Pop-Up Market Autumn 2020 edition, which launches on September 29.
