Paramount’s Channel 5 checks into The Motorway Hotel with BriteSpark Films

The Motorway Hotel looks at family business The Moat House Hotel on the M6

Channel 5 in the UK has commissioned Argonon Group-owned BriteSpark Films to make an access-all-areas factual series about a hotel alongside one of Britain’s busiest motorways.

The Motorway Hotel (working title, 4×60′) follows the triumphs and travails of staff and guests at family business The Moat House Hotel, a bustling and fast-paced commuter hotspot located near the M6, the motorway known as the backbone of Britain.

The series follows a diverse range of characters and their eclectic stories at the 24/7 hotel, which caters for a stream of customers travelling up and down the country.

It was commissioned by Lucy Willis, commissioning editor for unscripted at Channel 5 and Paramount+ and the series will be executive produced by joint creative directors Tom Porter and Nick Godwin for BriteSpark Films.

It is one of three recent commissions from Paramount-owned C5 for BriteSpark Films, alongside a new 4×60′ run of Scams: Don’t Get Caught Out and one-off special Holiday Scams: Don’t Get Caught Out. Both commissions are presented by Alexis Conran.

Daniel Pearl, commissioning editor for unscripted at Channel 5 and Paramount+, ordered both the series and special, with Porter and Godwin executive producing for BriteSpark Films.
