Paramount+ orders animated adaptation of Big Nate kids’ book series

Big Nate features a star voice cast

ViacomCBS-owned US streaming service Paramount+ has commissioned animated series Big Nate, based on Lincoln Peirce’s best-selling children’s book and comic series, to launch in 2022.

Ben Giroux, Dove Cameron, Bryce Charles, Daniel Cohen, Rob Delaney, Carolyn Hennesy, Arnie Pantoja, Kevin Michael Richardson and Charlie Schlatter lead the all-star voice cast for the series, which is being produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studio.

Set to debut early next year on Paramount+ in the US, Latin America, Canada and Australia, the eponymous 26-episode series follows Nate, a precocious 11-year-old boy, and his best friends as they navigate sixth grade.

The series is executive produced by Mitch Watson (All Hail King Julien) and John Cohen (The Angry Birds Movie) and produced by Amy McKenna (Beware the Batman), with Lincoln Peirce serving as consultant throughout development and production.

The Big Nate book series is published worldwide in 33 languages. It joins Paramount+’s growing line-up of original kids programming which already includes Star Trek: Prodigy, Rugrats and Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years.
