Paramount beefs up Pluto TV with over 6,300 episodes of CBS library content

Drama series Criminal Minds premiered on CBS in 2005

Paramount Global is beefing up the content offering on its AVoD platform Pluto TV with the addition of more than 6,300 episodes of CBS library content.

Before the end of the year, series such as Frasier, Cheers, Star Trek: The Original Series, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, The Wild Wild West and Petticoat Junction will be added to various FAST channels within the Pluto TV platform.

On the on-demand side, Pluto TV will also add CBS titles including Criminal Minds, Everybody Hates Chris, Hawaii Five-O, Beverly Hills 90210, The Brady Bunch, Dr Quinn, Medicine Woman, Family Ties, The Love Boat, Gunsmoke, Laverne & Shirley, MacGyver, Matlock, Mork & Mindy, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Scorpion, Taxi, The Twilight Zone and Webster.

The move will more than triple the volume of CBS programming available on-demand on the service.

Paramount Global acquired Pluto TV in early 2019 for around US$340m. In the time since, the CBS footprint on Pluto TV has expanded from three channels to around 40 spanning news, classic TV, sport and daytime programming. A month ago, Pluto TV expanded its offering with channels dedicated to CSI: Miami and CSI: New York.

Paramount said that even before the new CBS content lands on Pluto TV, CBS programming is the biggest driver of audience engagement and revenue for the platform.
