PactUS, GOVA launch digital hub

Indie representative body PactUS has forged alliances with multi-platform video network group Global Online Video Association (GOVA) and a law firm to bolster its digital services.

The partnerships with GOVA, whose member companies include Jukin Media, Machinima and Maker Studios, and law firm Ginsburg Daniels Kallis are designed to act as “the cornerstone of a broad-based digital hub initiative,” Pact said.

Ginsburg brought PactUS and GOVA together and will serve as a central digital hub resource for the development and business teams of the 45 PactUS member companies.

It will offer PactUS members advice on new revenue streams, platforms and knowledge resources. Members will be able to access assistance with contacts and get the latest information about the general revenue opportunities, changing content needs and varying digital deal structures available to them.

The partnership comes as unscripted producers claim revenues are falling to unsustainable levels, threatening the future of the sector.

PactUS president David Lyle said: “This initiative brings opportunities to both producers and platforms. It helps to level the playing field, giving our members with strong backgrounds in linear television the necessary resources to compete in an evolving digital content marketplace.

“We are striving to restore this important sector of the dynamic independent production ecosystem back to financial health.”

Ginsburg Daniels Kallis partner Phil Daniels added: “We are excited by the coming together of traditional and digital players, and the opportunities for learning and collaboration that will come out of this initiative. There will be a lot of value add created for all.”

Jon Taylor, executive director at GOVA, said: “As the lines between digital and traditional producers continue to blur, an alliance between PactUS and GOVA will serve to strengthen the overall producer community.”

UK producers’ association Pact launched its US arm in 2015, with former National Geographic Channel CEO Lyle named the man in charge.

All3Media America’s production family, Endemol Shine North America and firms including Broderville Pictures, Cineflix and Talos Films are among its members.
