OUTtv joins BBC Three’s Glow Up as co-commissioner for seventh season
BBC and OUTtv have co-commissioned a seventh season of Glow Up: Britain’s Next Make Up Star
The BBC in the UK and LGBTQ+ streaming service OUTtv have co-commissioned a seventh season of youth-skewing competition reality series Glow Up: Britain’s Next Make Up Star.
Having previously boarded as the exclusive global SVoD rights holder, excluding the UK, for season six, OUTtv has expanded its partnership with the BBC to step into the role of co-commissioner for the seventh instalment of the series.
Produced by Wall to Wall Media, the 8×60′ season will launch in the UK on BBC Three and iPlayer in 2025 and internationally on OUTtv, except for the Nordics where it will be available on OUTflix.
Hosted by supermodel Leomie Anderson, the show sees a group of aspiring make-up artists take part in professional assignments, with their work being judged by industry legends Val Garland and Dominic Skinner.
It comes after BBC Three boss Fiona Campbell said bringing Glow Up to online gaming platform Roblox helped to “significantly” lower the average age of the show’s audience.
The deal follows other recently announced international commissions from OUTtv, including docuseries Get Hooked (7×30′) and Stripped Down (6×30′), scripted comedy series Off Shoot (6×30′) and Settle Down! (6×20′), mockumentary Drag House Rules (6×30′) and multi-format variety series Wish You Were Queer (6×30′).
Philip Webb, chief operating officer of OUTtv, said: “Glow Up is a series that we have admired for years, and co-commissioning the upcoming season feels like a natural progression for us following the successful rollout of season six earlier this year on our platform globally.
“We have audiences from the USA to New Zealand who love the series and the constant reinvention and creative inspiration make up offers all genders. We have found such excellent partners in both the BBC and Wall to Wall and look forward to working closely with them as production starts.”
Melissa Brown, executive producer, Wall to Wall Media, added: “OUTtv’s commitment to bold, diverse, and inclusive storytelling makes them the perfect partner for us and I look forward to creating a standout season that resonates with audiences everywhere.”
