Orchid Pictures hires Michael Casey as MD, Gabriel Silver as exec producer

London-based prodco Orchid Pictures has hired former Left Bank Pictures producer Michael Casey as MD and Tiger Aspect’s creative director Gabriel Silver as exec producer.

The Crown producer Casey stepped down from Left Bank last year, after 16 years at the Sony-owned company where he produced more than 100 hours of programming for the BBC, ITV, Sky, HBO and Netflix.

At Orchid Pictures, Casey leads the day-to-day management of the company alongside founder Suzanne Mackie.

Silver became creative director of Banijay-owned Tiger Aspect in 2023 and leaves the company following the departure of MD Lucy Bedford earlier this year, which prompted the prodco to focus solely on scripted comedy under the leadership of comedy creative director Tom Jordan.

Prior to Tiger Aspect, Silver was director of commissioning for drama at Sky Studios, where he oversaw a slate of Sky Original projects, including Chernobyl, Gangs of London, Cobra, Britannia, The Lazarus Project and I Hate Suzie.

The Orchid Pictures team also includes development producers Hannah Campbell and Sophie Loizou, and development assistant Sam Spencer.

The company’s current slate features the upcoming adaptation of Agatha Christie’s The Seven Dials Mystery for Netflix and the next project from The Crown creator Peter Morgan, which is currently in pre-production.
