Olympusat hears Media Ranch’s Confessions

True Sex Confessions originally aired on Canada’s Moi & Cie

MIPTV: Spanish-language distribution specialist Olympusat has acquired the US Hispanic rights to Canadian series True Sex Confessions.

Canadian producer and distributor Media Ranch is in Cannes this week shopping the show and format as part of its catalogue and announced the deal with Olympusat this morning.

Olympusat specialises in ownership, distribution and production of Spanish- and English-language networks and has acquired the 13×30’ series for broadcast in the US Hispanic markets.

The show originally ran on French-Canadian lifestyle channel Moi & Cie and has also been sold to Channel 10 in Spain, Sky Italia’s Cielo and SPI International in Poland.

The rights to another Media Ranch format, Verdict on Demand, have been picked up by German producer Imago TV for adaptation. The original show airs on SBS6 in the Netherlands and is produced by Vincent TV Producties.

The format features a legal expert making house visits to desperate people struggling with various issues they can’t resolve themselves.

Endemol Shine Germany, meanwhile, has picked up the format option rights to Who Am I? – the Dutch comedy panel show created by Joris van Ooijen known in the Netherlands as Wie Ben Ik? On RTL4.

Media Ranch is introducing a new Israeli format at MipTV this week following the acquisition of rights to Face It, a show that brings celebrities face to face with their most vocal online trolls.

The show is owned and produced by Israeli producer Tanin Productions & TV who created national headlines in Israel when the leader of the opposition, Izhak Hertzog, appeared in a Facebook version of the format to meet his most vocal critics in person.
