LA-based Anonymous Content has hired Universal Cable Productions (UCP) president Dawn Olmstead as its CEO.

In addition, former HBO drama head David Levine, who joined Anonymous as president of television in early 2019, has been promoted to chief creative officer.

Olmstead will oversee all management of the TV and film producer, which is behind titles such as Apple TV+ crime miniseries Defending Jacob and HBO drama anthology True Detective.

She succeeds Anonymous founder Steve Golin, who died in April last year, as CEO.

During a two-year stint at NBCUniversal-owned UCP, Olmstead’s credits included The Umbrella Academy (Netflix) and The Act (Hulu), as well as Mr Robot, which was produced by cablenet USA Network with Anonymous.

Levine will now report to Olmstead and lead the company’s development.

The appointments were announced by Laurene Powell Jobs, founder and president of Anonymous majority owner Emerson Collective.

Olmstead said: “Steve Golin built a special place that cultivates emerging and established talent, a company that is a cultural leader, that values innovation and creative expression through all forms of entertainment, from branded content, film, and television, to acting, writing, directing and more.

“I had the privilege of working with Steve and, more recently, with David Levine and the rest of the incredible team at Anonymous Content. I have seen first-hand the impact of Steve’s fearless and soulful influence on this truly unique company that seamlessly integrates top-tier talent management with premium content creation.

“I look forward to all that our future holds for Anonymous, and I’m thrilled to help guide that journey.”
