Olivier Bibas joins Canal+ to head fiction and int’l coproduction department

Olivier Bibas is ending his time as an independent producer at Lagardère-owned French production group Atlantique Productions to return to French pay TV operator Canal+, the company where he began his career in 1995.

Olivier Bibas

Bibas, coproducer of the Portocabo and Movistar+ series Hierro, will join Canal+ on February 14 to lead the international fiction and co-production department. In this position, he will report to Gérald-Brice Viret, general director of channels and programmes at Canal+.

Canal+ said Bibas is replacing Fabrice de la Patellière, who has been responsible for fiction for the pay service since 2002 and who will move to production group StudioCanal.

Bibas’s goal at the group’s production company will be to develop French series for the international market, under the direction of Anna Marsh. De la Patellière launched the Création Originale Canal+ imprint in 2005, from which dramas such as Infiltrator Office, Baron Noir and Les Revenants have been produced.

Bibas worked at Canal+ from 1995 to 2011, when he took charge of Atlantique Productions, producer of series such as Borgia, The Transporter, Eden, Hierro and The Eddy, and which has been part of Mediawan since 2020. Bibas recently finished recording Django, a series for Canal+ and Sky Studios.
