The studio behind HBO’s Euphoria and Oscar-winning feature Everything Everywhere All at Once has tapped filmmaker and actor Olivia Wilde to direct the adaptation.

Published in 2011, Pulitzer Prize-winning novel A Visit from the Goon Squad is a set of 13 interrelated stories with a large set of characters all connected to Bennie Salazar, a record company executive, and his assistant, Sasha. The sequel revisits some of the characters and their progeny.

Wilde, who most recently directed, produced and starred in the feature film Don’t Worry Darling, is executive producing the TV series alongside Jennifer Fox. For Wilde, the project marks her first major TV series as a director, after also having feature success with the 2019 comedy Booksmart.

She is also attached to direct and develop an untitled Marvel movie focused on Spider-Woman for Sony and Pascal Pictures, in addition to developing and directing a Christmas film for Universal.

A24’s other TV credits include the recently released Netflix series Beef, Hulu’s Ramy and upcoming HBO drama The Sympathizer, starring Robert Downey Jr.
