LA-based prodco Offline Sports is collaborating with sports organisation the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (Concacaf) to make a documentary series about football tournament the Concacaf Champions Cup.

The factual project goes beyond the on-field action, offering a look at the teams, their key figures, coaching staff and fans, as the 27 participating teams compete to win the knockout competition and represent the region at the FIFA Club World Cup.

Filming will take place across the region, with camera crews capturing the passion and drama from stadiums, training grounds and cities. The Champions Cup reigning champions are Pachuca, from Mexico, managed by Guillermo Almada.

A commissioning broadcaster or platform has not yet been announced.

Philippe Moggio, general secretary, Concacaf, said: “This tournament, with more than 60 years of history, is about more than football, it represents the pride, identity, and pursuit of excellence across our region.

“Through this collaboration with Offline Sports, we’re excited to offer fans a new perspective on the Champions Cup and to begin a creative partnership that will continue to share the powerful stories of our game with the world.”

Gonzalo Arias and Diego Piasek, co-founders, Offline Sports, said: “This project marks the start of a very special collaboration with Concacaf, and we are deeply grateful for the trust to tell its stories.

“There are few tournaments that allow you to experience so many languages, cultures, and ways of life.

“We believe that in that diversity lies something genuine, pure, and deeply special, not only reflecting the region’s cultural richness but also the rising competitiveness of a tournament that more and more global stars want to be part of.”
