Ofcom names interim CEO

UK media regulator Ofcom has named an interim CEO to take the place of Sharon White, who is leaving at the end of November.

Jonathan Oxley, who is currently group director for competition and a board member for Ofcom, will take on the position temporarily while a permanent successor is found.

Oxley did not apply for the position permanently but will take on the full responsibilities of the CEO and become Ofcom’s accountable officer in the interim.

A permanent successor for White, who has led the regulator since 2015 but announced her decision to stand down in June, is expected to be named after the UK general election, which is set for December 12.
