Nutopia sees Windfall with new exec

UK indie Nutopia has hired a producer from fellow prodco Windfall Films as an exec producer to help manage its growing slate of specialist factual content.

Ian Holt joins the firm, founded by former BBC2 controller Jane Root, to work with its development team to broaden its focus in the UK and US markets.

Holt, who takes up his position on January 14, will also manage international coproduction opportunities.

He held a similar position at Windfall, working across projects spanning factual entertainment and specialist factual and pitching to major broadcasters. He was an executive producer on projects including The Great Pyramid: The New Evidence, Unearthed and Mythical Beasts.

Other titles on Holt’s CV include BBC series James May’s Toy Stories and Operation Ouch! – one of children’s network CBBC’s leading factual shows.

Prior to joining Windfall, Holt was head of specialist and popular factual at All3Media-owned Maverick Television, working on shows The Truth About Sugar and Bizarre ER.
