NPO3 to rescue pop stars with Don’t Stop the Music from CCCP, Newen Connect

Don’t Stop the Music leads Newen Connect’s slate for MipTV

Dutch broadcaster NPO3 has picked up Don’t Stop the Music, a new entertainment format from local studio CCCP in which comedians attempt to revive former pop stars’ music careers.

In the show, the comedians and artists must work together to create promotional videos and mastermind a social media campaign to help the has-beens attract new fans.

NPO3 acquired the format from French distributor Newen Connect, which will shop Don’t Stop the Music as part of its slate of new content for MipTV next week.

Other titles Newen Connect will be shopping at the Cannes market include adventure-reality format The Best Instagram Husband, produced by Finland’s UpToLevel; sustainability reality format Carbon 14 from Spain’s iZen; property show The Secret Agent, produced by the UK’s Little Delicious Media; and celebrity race challenge Walk of Fame and security-focused series The Bodyguard (for NPO3), both of which are produced by Tuvalu Media.

“Don’t Stop the Music is already being snapped up in key markets before it has even launched, and we can’t wait to introduce buyers to our other new formats,” said Andrew Sime, VP of format sales at Newen Connect.
