Norway’s TV2, Seefood TV in Oslo look to open The Box based on paper format

Competition-based reality format The Box

TV2 in Norway is set to launch a competition-based reality format developed and produced by Oslo-based Seefood TV. The show will be hosted by Mads Hansen (The Traitors Norway) in January next year.

The Box sees 12 well-known personalities thrown into challenges for which they are completely unprepared. As soon as the door to the box opens, they will be in the middle of a frightening or entertaining challenge, which they must figure out how to complete.

The participants live together at a fixed base and each episode culminates in a duel where two contestants compete to stay in the game. The one who ultimately masters the most challenges will emerge as the winner.

It comes after Seefood TV created Kompani Lauritzen (Celebrity Task Force) for TV2, in which celebrities join the army. The show has since been adapted in multiple territories.

Hansen said: “The Box is simply an incredibly fascinating concept. When the participants enter the box, they have no idea where they will end up when they exit, or what they will have to do. All they know is that as soon as the doors open, the competition begins.”

TV2 programme director, Trygve Rønningen said The Box will captivate a reality-hungry Norwegian audience.

“The Box is an entirely new and original reality format of high quality. There is a great variety in the challenges the participants must solve, which creates both excitement, humour and spectacular TV moments,” said Rønningen.
