Norway’s TV 2, Nordisk Banijay check into The Fortune Hotel in first celeb edition

The Fortune Hotel, created and produced by Tuesday’s Child

Norwegian broadcaster TV 2 has commissioned a local adaptation of strategy-based gameshow The Fortune Hotel, but with celebrity contestants.

Norway is the third country to commission the format and the first to launch a celebrity edition, to be produced by Nordisk Banijay for premiere later this year.

Originally created and produced last year by Tuesday’s Child for ITV in the UK, The Fortune Hotel was also previously commissioned by TV4 in Sweden. Banijay Entertainment holds the international distribution rights.

The format sees pairs of contestants check into a lavish hotel, where they receive identical briefcases. One briefcase contains a life-changing cash prize while another holds an ‘early checkout’ card. Each pair must navigate challenges and twists which result in briefcases being swapped, until only one pair remains and takes home the cash.
