North America’s Topic, SBS in Oz join global buyers of Agatha Christie’s Hjerson

Agatha Christie’s Hjerson follows a character taken from Christie’s work

MIPCOM: North American streamer Topic and Australian pubcaster SBS are among the buyers to have picked up TV crime drama Agatha Christie’s Hjerson.

The 8×44’ or 4×88’ series is described as a classic whodunnit based on a character from Christie’s world by its distributor, ZDF Studios, which announced the latest acquisitions here in Cannes.

Topic has taken the show for the US and Canada, and SBS will air it down under. In addition, ZDF Studios has licensed the series to VoD platforms Google Play, iTunes, Amazon, Deutsche Telekom and Huawei for German-speaking territories, as well as German public broadcaster ZDF.

Other buyers include Viasat World, which covers the Czech Republic, Poland, Ukraine, Croatia and the whole of south-east Europe, Keshet (Israel), NHK (Japan), VR Films (India), LRT (Lithuania) and Walter Presents, Walter Iuzzolino’s network for the UK and Ireland.

The series, which follows supposedly retired Swedish criminal investigator Sven Hjerson, was originally commissioned by Sweden’s TV4/C More.
