The acquisition will allow Drive Studios, which was formed five years ago, to further expand production of scripted and unscripted content in Germany and Norway.

Drive Studios co-owns Drive Beta in Germany, which produces online content for Funk and ZDF. It will now focus on producing “affordable fiction” in the country, for which it will appoint a head of scripted content.

Drive Studios will also ramp up production in Norway, while continuing to maintain a high production output in Denmark. Nordisk Film took a minority stake in the company in 2017.

Kenneth Wiberg, senior VP at Nordisk Film, said: ”In a short period of time, Drive Studios has created innovative and impressive content and TV series and they have shown that they can work outside Denmark as well.

“They are a great and innovative team, and in Nordisk Film we want to be even closer partners as they embark on their new journey of further expanding the company.”
