Denmark-based Nordisk Film Production is expanding its scripted team with the appointments of Michael Bille Frandsen and Mia Marie Borup, who will start work at the Egmont Group-owned prodco in August.

Borup has more than 10 scripted series under her belt from her decade at fellow Danish prodco Mastiff, including Zulu’s Sjit Happens, for local broadcaster TV2; Hand in Hand, the first original series from Scandi streamer Viaplay; and two Christmas series for pubcaster DR.

Frandsen, meanwhile, has produced long-running TV2 historical series The Seaside Hotel with prodcos Thorsboe & Lundblad and SF Studios for the past 12 years. Before that, he produced several titles for DR.

Feature films remain central to the DNA at Nordisk Film Production, which has received many Oscar nominations and recently had a film in the main competition at the Cannes Film Festival, crime drama The Girl With the Needle.

However, CEO Katrine Vogelsang said: “Simultaneously, we want to increase our investments in series. We are looking forward to having Mia Marie Borup and Michael Bille Frandsen on board the team and continuing the good work.”

The scripted series team at Nordisk Film Production already includes producers Trin Hjortkjær Thomsen and Camilla Hammerich, who are in the process of completing TV2 crime series The Gravediggers, as well as fellow TV2 series SOSU, which is currently in production.
